新西兰超市有哪些?
说一个冷知识,New World 在英文里是二手世界的意思。因为 New World 里的货物都是 2nd hand 的,或是 2nd quality的(品质不好的东西才卖 New World 呢)。 New Zealand has a fairly small population and as such there are only five major supermarkets (as ranked by store numbers). The number one supermarket is Countdown which happens to be owned by its parent company, Woolworths Group of Australia. You will find this grocery chain in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Next door to count down is another Australian-owned chain, Pak 'n' Save. As the name suggests you can purchase groceries as well as make your own pakoras(vegetarian falafel) and sausages. Both these two chains have their roots in Australia with much of their products coming from local producers. They both adhere to the New World principle that goods must be fresh, affordable and of high-quality.
The third largest supermarket group in New Zealand is Foodtown but it does not belong to any other foreign conglomerate like the first two mentioned here. Rather it belongs to an independent family company based in Auckland. It operates more than twenty stores across New Zealand. Its product range is smaller than the other four superstores put together. This is because it focuses on being able to provide shoppers with speciality foods that they cannot source elsewhere. These include international cheeses, meats and vegetables.
The fourth biggest supermarket in terms of number of locations is Farmers, also known as Farmers Fresh. Like Foodtown it doesn't fall under the auspices of any multinational retailer. However, unlike Foodtown it caters primarily for rural customers and country lifestyles. The goods found on its shelves are targeted at kiwis who like to garden, farm or hunt so expect to see lots of organic produce , free range eggs and grass-fed beef在这里. One thing that sets Farmers apart from the rest is that it offers home delivery service to all its customers.
Finally we come to SuperValue. Owned by the same family as Farmers, this is again an independent retailer with just over ten locations around the country. What makes it stand out is the prices.
